A Well-Prepared Birth

Women are often told what birth will feel like, but rarely taught how to prepare for it well. LovingBirths classes are designed to help you understand what is happening in your body, develop practical skills, and approach labor with greater calm, confidence, and trust in the process.

In LovingBirths classes, this preparation is built through four essential components

Become Confident in the Design

Develop a clear understanding of how the body is designed to work during labor and birth, allowing trust to replace fear.

One of the most powerful forms of preparation is understanding the natural design of the birth process. In class, we explore how hormones, environment, and support work together during labor and how these elements influence the experience of birth.

Work With Your Body in Labor

Learn practical techniques that support the natural processes of labor, helping to reduce unnecessary discomfort and encourage effective, efficient progress.

Birth becomes more manageable when families learn how to work with the body rather than against it. In class, you’ll be introduced to practical comfort techniques, helpful positions, and supportive strategies that encourage the natural progress of labor.

These tools help couples approach labor as an active process—one where both partners can participate in meaningful and supportive ways.

Learn and Practice Deep Relaxation

Practice the deep relaxation skills that support a peaceful birth, helping maintain both physical comfort and emotional steadiness throughout labor.

Relaxation is not simply a suggestion for birth—it is a skill that can be learned and practiced. LovingBirths classes introduce techniques that help mothers release tension and conserve energy during labor.

Through guided practice, you learn relaxation methods that support comfort, focus, and steady breathing as labor unfolds.

Prepare Your Birth Partner and Advocate

Equip your partner or support person to be an active, confident presence—prepared to assist you through each stage of labor, help create a calm and loving birth environment, and advocate for you during moments of decision as you move through birth together.

Birth partners play a vital role in the birth experience. In LovingBirths classes, partners learn how to provide meaningful physical, emotional, and practical support throughout each stage of labor.

They leave with a clear understanding of how to support the laboring mother and help create a calm, connected birth environment.

Is LovingBirths Right for You?

  • First-time parents often wonder what birth will really be like and how to prepare. LovingBirths supports both parents in learning, practicing, and preparing together so neither of you feels alone as you approach labor and birth.

  • Families planning birth center or home births often value a deep understanding of the birth process and the ability to work closely with their bodies during labor. LovingBirths supports this preparation through practical education, relaxation skills, and partner involvement—helping you approach birth with confidence, connection, and steady support.

  • Families planning hospital births want to feel prepared, informed, and supported within a medical setting. LovingBirths helps you and your birth partner communicate your birth preferences clearly, participate confidently in decision-making, and work together as a team to support labor and birth. With thoughtful preparation, many families discover that joy in labor is possible regardless of birth setting. For those hoping to experience birth with as little intervention as possible while maintaining access to the resources of a hospital, preparation is especially important—and this class is an excellent first step on that journey.

  • Families who have experienced birth before often approach a new pregnancy with fresh questions, new hopes, or a desire for a different experience. LovingBirths offers an opportunity to revisit preparation, deepen understanding, and learn or refresh practical skills—supporting you and your partner as you approach this birth with clarity, intention, and renewed confidence.

Birth Stories

"At 37, preparing to deliver my first and only baby, I knew I wanted a natural childbirth — but I also knew how often birth plans change. What made the difference for me was Taylor’s education and guidance. Because of her class, I walked into labor informed, confident, and ready to trust my body.”

Stacee Elliott

Unmedicated Hospital Birth, 2019

“With the preparation I received and the support of my sister-in-law and mom, I was able to move through labor with confidence. They stayed close and created the kind of space I needed so I could focus on my work. Even in the most intense moments, I felt calm and supported, and I was able to trust my body.”

Christine Moore

Unmedicated Hospital Birth, 2013

“Our experience with LovingBirths Collective and the LovingBirths Labor Method exceeded our expectations.

Although my labor required an induction due to a minor complication, my husband and I felt fully prepared to handle the change in plans. The breathing, relaxation, and partner techniques we practiced helped us stay calm and confident, and we were still able to have a natural birth without Pitocin or pain medication.”
